JNA Financial Empowerment Workshop (Financial Literacy Month) at Howard University College of Dentistry

On April 11, 2026, The Jamaican Nationals Association of Washington, DC (JNA) successfully hosted its Financial Empowerment Workshop, also recognized as Financial Literacy Day, bringing together community members for an engaging and informative experience focused on financial education and long-term success.

The event provided attendees with practical tools and insights to support financial awareness, planning, and empowerment within the community.

JNA extends its sincere appreciation to its presenters and partners for their valuable contributions. Representatives from Lafayette Federal Credit Union shared guidance on financial products and strategies to help individuals achieve their financial goals, with special thanks to Alfredo, Sara, and Financial Advisor James.

Additional sessions included a presentation by Julia Rivas on Medicare and healthcare plan options, as well as a session by Jonathan Lee covering retirement planning, tax considerations, and the importance of long-term financial planning.

A special segment of the program featured Dr. Reginald Salter, who introduced students from Howard University College of Dentistry preparing to participate in a Dental Mission to St. Mary, Jamaica in July 2026, as part of the Smiles Without Borders Global Outreach Initiative. Attendees were invited to support this meaningful effort, which will enable approximately 30 students to provide essential dental care services to communities in Jamaica.

Carol-Ann Boothe and Colin Boothe will also be participating in the mission, further reflecting JNA’s commitment to service and community impact.
