JNA Student Outreach Program and Scholarship Awards

STUDENT OUTREACH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Jamaican Nationals Association in collaboration with the Embassy of Jamaica will be hosting our Annual Student Reception and Scholarship Awards on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Residence of Her Excellency Audrey P. Marks, Ambassador of Jamaica to the United States. We expect about 80 university/ college students, faculty members, sponsors and guests to gather for this reception.

  • We are seeking your financial assistance towards our Student Outreach Program which is offered to college/university students in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. As a non-profit organization, the Jamaican Nationals Association organizes events that are funded through sponsorships and donations. We hope you will consider this request for a financial contribution to our outreach program. The 2019 Program involves assistance through: a) a scholarship award for the 2019-2020 school year;
    b) connecting students with mentors in the Metro Area;
    c) ongoing leadership training information and workshop;
    d) ongoing networking between the local Jamaican community and students of Jamaican heritage individually and through the local Caribbean student organizations.
  • The Student Outreach Program was created by JNA’s Education Committee to provide networking opportunities with university and college students in the DC metropolitan area and award students with scholarships that will assist with their educational endeavors. As there continues to be a consistent rise in college expenses, many students are finding it extremely difficult to afford the resources necessary to achieve their educational goals. Our goal is to raise $15,000 to $25,000 for this project to assist needy and talented students.
  • JNA is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit organization whose mission is to unify, foster and promote the welfare of Jamaicans and persons of Jamaican heritage in the Washington Metropolitan Area along with providing assistance and support to individuals and organizations in the United States and in Jamaica. Refer to EIN #521240060 for contributions which are tax-deductible to the extent of the IRS Law.
  • We are asking you to complete our Sponsor Form and return to the attention of Education Committee, P.O. Box 56453, Washington, DC 20040 with your check payable to Jamaican Nationals Association or PayPal payment on our website at www.jnaofdc.org by February 28, 2019.
