Five-Year Strategic Plan Review: How to Increase Support for JNA

In 2018, JNA successfully undertook a well-attended Retreat & Visioning Exercise, moderated by Dr. Claire Nelson of the Institute of Caribbean Studies. That Exercise ultimately resulted in two major documents, shepherded by Doreen Thompson, Esq:

  1. A Five-Year (2018-2023) Strategic Plan, and
  2. A major update to JNA’s Bylaws.

Both documents required the steadfast commitment of many JNA volunteers who gave up numerous subsequent Saturdays to get them done. We are grateful for their contributions.

What will happen on May 31st?
The 2018-2023 Five-Year Plan requires JNA to conduct a review every two years and update the plan as necessary. The two-year review is scheduled for May 31, 2020 at 3:30 pm-5:30 pm. Its primary focus will be How can JNA increase its membership and level of support among the approx. 50,000 persons of Jamaican heritage in the DMV. What must JNA do better to increase its outreach?

The May 31st Review will also address items postponed from the last review’s recommendations, such as: Should there be changes to JNA’s branding (name, logo, tagline) to increase its outreach? Should there be changes to JNA’s mission and how it meets its goals to increase its outreach?
